The Irondequoit Public Library is chartered by the New York State Education Department and in accordance with the laws of New York State operates under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees. There are seven trustees appointed by the Irondequoit Town Board to five year terms. Trustees are selected for their interest in the library and its role in the community and their willingness to devote the time and effort necessary to carry out the duties of a trustee. The Library Board of Trustees has control of the expenditure of all funds in the library budget set by the town board. They work with the library director and staff in the study, evaluation and creation of library policies and long-range plans for library service. The monthly meetings are open to the public and residents are also welcome to address the board at any meeting.
The Library Board of Trustees meets every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM. Meetings are held at the Irondequoit Public Library. Anyone wishing to speak at a meeting must sign up ahead of time at the Reference Desk. See the Agenda For Next Library Board Meeting here.
The minutes from previous board meetings are available to download in PDF format at the Library Board Meeting Minutes Archive. ***ALL MEETINGS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC***
