Starting Sunday, March 15th, the Irondequoit Public Library will be closed until further notice.
I have made this difficult decision after consulting with the President of the Library Board, the Library Director and speaking with public health officials.
I recognize the important role that libraries play, even during public emergencies like this. Ironically, during the 2017 wind storm, we did everything we could to encourage people to come to the Library.
We still plan on using the library as a staging location to provide vital services to residents during this public health crisis, including but not limited to: food distribution and finding ways to ensure all residents continue to have access to the internet. This, however, will be done on a controlled basis.
