Human Resources is responsible for all personnel functions, which includes employment, compensation and benefits, payroll, staff development, employee relations, labor relations, contract administration and negotiation, etc.  Human Resources is the liaison with Monroe County Civil Service in matters concerning civil service law, procedures, job descriptions, and classifications.  The department is responsible for the development and administration of Human Resource policies and procedures and for ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal labor laws.

LABORER in the BUREAU OF PUBLIC WORKS - Full Time:

The Town of Irondequoit has two openings for the position of full time Laborer in the Bureau of Public Works. This is an entry-level unskilled position involving a variety of routine heavy and light manual labor tasks. The employee reports directly to and works under the general supervision of a foreman or other higher-level employee. The job requires physical endurance. May be required to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, to work overtime, and to be on twenty-four (24) hour call seven (7) days a week for emergencies. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

This position is represented by CSEA Local 7414 Blue Collar Unit.

ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER - Part Time:

This position will involve picking up stray animals and transporting them to the proper holding facility. Requires pick up, removal and proper disposal of wildlife and dead animals from roadways and private property. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays.

LIGHT LABORER at the IRONDEQUOIT BAY MARINE PARK - Part Time:

The Town of Irondequoit is looking for a dependable employee who is able to work with limited supervision. Responsibilities include the upkeep and daily maintenance of the beach, pier, restrooms and surrounding parking lot of the Irondequoit Bay State Marine Park. Must be willing to pick up trash and general litter around the park, clean the bathrooms and keep the beach area free of rubbish. Hours of employment are weekends 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM plus 4 hours during the week.

CLERK in the BUREAU OF PUBLIC WORKS - Part Time:

Duties will be administrative / clerical in nature, providing support for the Department management team and employees. Ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to prioritize work. Ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Position offers flexible hours up to 20 hours per week.

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR - Seasonal:

  • Summer Camp Staff applications will be accepted from Dec. 6th - May 4th
  • Positions include: Assistant Camp/Playground Program Supervisor, Camp Directors, Woodcraft Director, Counselors, and Woodcraft Counselors.
  • If selected, interviews will take place in mid-May. Candidates will be notified via phone call with an interview date, time, and location.
  • You must be at least entering senior year in High School or older in order to apply for a Summer Camp Staff position.

Junior Leader Volunteer Program for Summer Camp - Seasonal:

  • Junior Leader applications accepted from Dec. 1st - June 1st. Interviews will take place in mid-June.
  • This is a volunteer position for young adults entering grades 10-11.
  • A limited number of 9th graders selected for volunteering at KinderCamp.
  • Applicants must volunteer for at least two consecutive weeks.

 SCHOOL TRAFFIC GUARD - Part Time:

The Irondequoit Police Department is always accepting applications for the position of Part Time School Crossing Guard. The hours vary throughout the day, with a rate of $10.40 per hour. Candidates will ensure the safety of school children as they cross the street in the crosswalks to and from school. Candidates should be able and willing to work outside, in any weather conditions. Uniforms and equipment are provided.
