Community Garden 2005

"Community Garden Project"

Beginning in 2003 the Youth Council members worked on a "Community Garden Project" made possible through a grant from the Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation to the Irondequoit Youth Council sponsored by the Irondequoit Youth Bureau and in cooperation with Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church. The garden is located the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church located on Portland Ave. Produce from the garden went to sthe Irondequoit food cupboard and the Senior Center.

Building Assets Together
The Youth Bureau is working with other community organizations to promote and develop the "40 Developmental Assets" with Irondequoit youth The 40 Assets are in eight categories: Support, Enpowerment, Boundaries & Expectations, Constructive Use of Time, Commitment to Learning, Positive Values, Social Competencies, and Positive Identity.
