IRONDEQUOIT YOUTH BUREAU
The Youth Bureau was created by the Town Board in the spring of 1997 and appointed its first director and Advisory Board in December of that year. The advisory board is made up of community representatives, professionals and town youth. Funding for the Youth Bureau is provided in part by the Town of Irondequoit, NYS Office of Children and Family Services and various grants.
PURPOSE
To promote coordination and collaboration among youth serving organizations for prevention and intervention programming.
To maximize effective utilization of community resources and services.
To provide administrative services for the general youth population of the Town.
GOALS AND MISSION
To ensure that there is a continuum of services and resources available to youth under 21 and their families to meet their needs.
To create a healthy environment for the development of youth living in the town through a variety of venues and resources.
To have a healthy vibrant community in which youth are perceived as assets.
To encourage community action and involvement for the benefit of youth.
IRONDEQUOIT YOUTH COUNCIL
PURPOSE
To give youth a voice in the community.
To provide youth with leadership training and opportunities.
Plan and implement activities such as community service projects, art and music festivals and other events to bring the youth of the town together.
MEMBERS
Youth in grades 7-12 who live and/or attend school in the Town of Irondequoit.
