Common Code Violations

In most cases, investigation of code violations and enforcement action happens when a citizen reports a potential violation.  The types of violations that are typically reported include:

Health and safety issues, including substandard housing; haphazard construction of fences, sheds and other buildings; and illegal conversion of garages.

Property maintenance and appearance, such as inoperable vehicles parked in driveways or on lawns; abandoned appliances and other trash; and illegal storage of recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers.

Business operations, such as unsightly and illegal signage, landscaping, maintenance, and outdoor displays of merchandise.

Building and zoning, including construction renovation or remodeling without permits.
