Let's talk about...

Winter in Irondequoit

Though snow has been falling for weeks, winter officially starts on December 21st. During this time of year it is important to take extra measures to ensure safety as we drive, heat our homes, and prepare for the holidays. Please take a few moments to look at some important tips on these topics from our Police Department, Fire Marshal, and NYSEG & RGE:

Holiday Safety Info.
Winter Driving Tips
Winter Fire Safety
Efficient/Safe Holiday Tips
Dangers of Carbon Monoxide

Also, winter is a beautiful time in Irondequoit but we all know that it can get a bit chilly. With that in mind, I wanted to take the time to let you know that NYSEG and RG&E have recently expanded their Energy Assistance Program (EAP) to include approximately 30% more of their customers. For more information on how this might benefit you, please see the following documents:

Energy Assistance Program
Eligibility Guidelines

Finally, please remember that the Winter Parking Ordinance is now in effect. The goal of this ordinance is to make the plowing and salting of dedicated Town streets safer and more effective. From now until April 15 the Town asks that you please keep your vehicles off of the rights-of-way and all town roads from midnight to 9am. Your efforts will help us keep our roads safe and aid in our efforts to save tax dollars in our snow removal program. For more information, please see the link here.
