Students Celebrate Summer of Going Green | | IHS Students Present their Research |
Students in the Irondequoit High School Summer Institute 2008 took a green approach this year.
They evaluated the town’s Environmental Sustainability Report in order to recommend additional ways that the Town of Irondequoit and its residents can save energy, save money, and make the town more environmentally friendly.
On August 7, the students presented their work at a public event at the Town Hall gazebo.
Recommendations were included in a report Going Green: The Future of Irondequoit.
The students also produced three informational brochures: The students also released detailed plans for a rain garden they designed for the Town Hall campus. The rain garden will be constructed between the Cobblestone Blacksmith Shop and the Pioneer House museum. Construction will begin when repairs to the Cobblestone Blacksmith Shop are complete.
Read more about the rain garden and Irondequoit High School Summer Institute 2008 in the Irondequoit Post (8/8/08).
