Planting Irondequoit Prideflower

The Community Beautification Community, organized in September 2006 by Supervisor Mary Ellen Heyman and Councilwoman Debbie Evans, is dedicated to enhancing civic pride through gardening projects, litter clean up activities, and other initiatives.  The Committee took the name Planting Irondequoit Pride after a townwide naming contest.

The group encourages citizens to take ownership of their community and take pride in their neighborhood and areas surrounding their businesses.

Activities of Planting Irondequoit Pride include:
  • Conducting two townwide litter cleanups each year, one in the spring and fall.
  • Planting and maintaining three flower gardens (East Ridge Road, Kings Highway, and St. Paul & Pattonwood) and planting and maintaining flowers around eight Welcome to Irondequoit signs.
  • Planting and caring for flower planters along five main intersections of East Ridge Road.
  • Making and installing Winter wreaths along five main intersections of East Ridge Road.
  • Receiving a state grant to purchase and install American flags around Town

    Planting Irondequoit Pride
is always looking for volunteers.  Please contact either Debbie Evans or Ann Doeller at 585-309-2169.

Planting Irondequoit Pride also asks residents to think of us when they are dividing up their plants this fall.  Residents can donate these extra plantings from their gardens.  Planting Irondequoit Pride will then plant the plants at various locations around town.  Residents may call 309-2169 for more information.
