MEET OUR GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD WINNERS! Good N eighbor Award Irondequoit is a very caring community where neighbors care for each other. In an effort to recognize this spirit of compassion, Supervisor Mary Ellen Heyman is launching the Good Neighbor Award. This award is being established to recognize citizens who do what they can to improve the quality if life for their neighbors or other citizens in Irondequoit. “Neighbors helping neighbors is the bedrock of a strong community, “says Supervisor Heyman. “Good neighbors are our unsung heroes. They should get the recognition they deserve.” The Town will continually accept nominations from residents. Winners will be chosen each quarter. Honorees will be invited to a Town Board meeting to be recognized. They will also be recognized in Images magazine and on Irondequoit Cable Access TV (Channel 12). Those nominating their neighbors, even for the smallest things, will now have a way to publicly say thank you to them. It will be heartwarming to see how many people are there for their neighbors -- day in and day out -- doing things that mean more to others than they could ever know. “This is another purpose for starting this award,” adds Supervisor Heyman. “It will provide an opportunity to share what citizens are doing for each other.”
