Current DPW Projects

Each year, our staff of approximately 57 DPW employees undertakes numerous improvement and maintenance projects on Town facilities. In 2012, these projects include:

Project Description Start Date/Status


Replacement of Approximately 40 Sanitary Laterals and cleanouts.

In Progress


Plant approximately 40 new street trees.

Spring


Remove 100 dead or damaged trees from the Town rights of way.

In Progress


Replace approximately 3,300 linear feet of damaged sidewalks.

Spring/Summer

Replace approximately 1.5 miles of sidewalk along Westchester Ave. and Laurelton Rd. between Shelford Rd. and Route 590. This is part of the Safe Routes to School Sidewalk grant the Town received.
Summer


Pave over 5 miles of Town roads.

Summer


Oil and stone over 4 miles of Town roads.

Summer


Approximately 20 other Town wide minor drainage related improvements including replacing culverts, repairing end sections, stabilizing stream banks, and installing overflow structures and channels.

Ongoing


Brett Rd. Reconstruction: Lining storm and sanitary sewers, sidewalk and road replacement.

Summer

Imperial Circle: Erosion repair, remove deteriorated storm pipe, add new road culvert.
