Drainage

In 2004, the Town of Irondequoit created a Town-Wide Drainage District to help comply with state and federal regulations regarding storm water systems and discharges (SPEDES).

The District is a separate taxing district that pays for a limited amount of capital improvements, maintenance, and proactive inspection on Town-owned drainage facilities.

The Town’s drainage infrastructure is quite old and was designed to handle only modest rainfall events.  The Department of Public Works is currently undertaking an aggressive effort to upgrade and replace deteriorated and undersized storm drains throughout the Town.
