Sewers

The Town of Irondequoit owns and operates the sanitary sewers throughout the Town.  Sewage is collected in a system of pipes and transported underground to the Frank E. VanLare treatment plant on Lakeshore Boulevard.

Only domestic waste is permitted to be routed to the sanitary sewers.  Connections of residential or commercial gutter downspouts and sump pumps are strictly prohibited.  Such connections can lead to basement flooding and damage to the sewer systems.
