Street TreesThe Town currently has an in-house program to trim and remove tress from the Town rights-of-way. The current policy is to remove from the rights-of-way only dead or severely damaged trees that pose an imminent threat to life or property. The Department of Public Works began a program in 2007 to start replanting trees on streets where there has been a significant number of trees removed due to disease or damage. The program is in its early stages and as such only a limited amount of funds are available annually for new plantings. The goal of the Department is to expand the program to allow more plantings each year until the number removed per year equals the number planted. Residents wishing to have their frontage considered for a new tree are encouraged to call the DPW at 336-6090. In the event that a resident would like to plant a replacement tree in the right-of-way, this may be done by first contacting the Department of Public Works for assistance with the selection of appropriate species and planting techniques. Please contact the Department of Public Works at 585-336-6090 for questions or concerns regarding street trees. |
