Planning Board

The Planning Board reviews applications for site development, land subdivisions, and Environmental Protection Overlay District permits as authorized in the Town code. It also advises the Town Board on zoning change and special use permit applications and develops short- and long-range land use planning policies.

Zoning Board of Appeals

The Zoning Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals of code enforcement and building permit decisions, interprets the Town zoning code, and grants zoning variances and temporary and special use permits as appropriate and authorized by the Town code.

Board of Assessment Review

The Board of Assessment Review (BAR) meets annually on the first Tuesday of June to hear complaints regarding property assessments and property exemption determinations. The BAR is a five member board comprised of local citizens. Each member is appointed by the Town Board and serves a five year term of office.

Library Board of Trustees

The Irondequoit Public Library is chartered by the New York State Education Department and in accordance with the laws of New York State operates under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees. There are seven trustees appointed by the Irondequoit Town Board to five year terms. Trustees are selected for their interest in the library and its role in the community and their willingness to devote the time and effort necessary to carry out the duties of a trustee. The Library Board of Trustees has control of the expenditure of all funds in the library budget set by the town board. They work with the library director and staff in the study, evaluation and creation of library policies and long-range plans for library service. The monthly meetings are open to the public and residents are also welcome to address the board at any meeting.

Conservation Board

The Conservation Board is charged with preserving the Town’s natural environment. It reviews and provides recommendations on all proposed legislation and development applications with potential for significant environmental impacts.

Preservation Commission

The Preservation Commission of the Town of Irondequoit was formed in 2001 to preserve and protect historic sites in the town of Irondequoit. It processes application from people interested in listing their homes and other buildings as local historic sites.

The Irondeuqoit Communications Advisory Council (ICAC) was formed in 2010 to improve dialog between the town and its residents while bringing awareness about the services offered by the town.
