It also advises the Town Board on zoning change and special use permit applications and develops short- and long-range land use planning policies. The BAR is a five member board comprised of local citizens. Each member is appointed by the Town Board and serves a five year term of office. Grievance Procedure Back to Top>> Library Board of Trustees The Irondequoit Public Library is chartered by the New York State Education Department and in accordance with the laws of New York State operates under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees. There are seven trustees appointed by the Irondequoit Town Board to five year terms. Trustees are selected for their interest in the library and its role in the community and their willingness to devote the time and effort necessary to carry out the duties of a trustee. The Library Board of Trustees has control of the expenditure of all funds in the library budget set by the town board. They work with the library director and staff in the study, evaluation and creation of library policies and long-range plans for library service. The monthly meetings are open to the public and residents are also welcome to address the board at any meeting. It reviews and provides recommendations on all proposed legislation and development applications with potential for significant environmental impacts.
