Over the last two decades, various Town administrations have explored community/recreation center concepts, but none moved forward due to concerns over long-term costs. The potential public-private partnership at Skyview on the Ridge presents a unique opportunity to deliver this long-desired amenity to the residents of Irondequoit in an affordable manner.
In August 2017, Angelo Ingrassia, the new owner of the former Mall announced plans to redevelop the 1-million square foot site, rebranding the project “Skyview on the Ridge.” At Supervisor Seeley’s request to allow town residents to play a part in the redevelopment of the site, Mr. Ingrassia generously agreed to donate approximately 50,000 square feet of the facility for the Town to redevelop into a community center.

November 30, 2017
As the Town considers the development of a community recreation center at the Skyview on the Ridge site, we are seeking the community’s input on the potential amenities and services that could be offered at a newly renovated facility. This initial meeting included an overview of the physical space allotted for this future use and interactive sessions where residents and interested stakeholders helped prioritize potential community center offerings.
The information from session will inform the Advisory Committee and Town Board with a direction for the community recreation center.
