As of May 1st, 2014 Supervisor Bello has sent a letter to the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) requesting the termination of the PILOT Agreement with Bersin Properties, LLC (Medley Centre).
"If payment is not received by close of business today, on behalf of the Town of Irondequoit and with the full authorization and unanimous support of the Irondequoit Town Board, I hereby exercise the Town of Irondequoit's rights under section 5.2 of the PILOT and insist that COMIDA terminate the PILOT.
It is our collective responsibility to protect taxpayers by enforcing tax abatement agreements, thereby ensuring residents receive a return on their investment. With the termination of the PILOT, we can ensure that taxpayers are no longer subsidizing Berson Properties' stalled revelopment of the former Irondequoit Mall."
